Jared. Terry. Garrett.

The three of us share a one-bedroom apartment across the river from New York City in Edgewater, New Jersey. We're the only Jersey boys in a ward whose boundaries are Manhattan.

The Manhattan 8th Ward housing list brings us together. Whether I know them or not, a level of trust exists because we are brothers in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Jared is Joey. Terry is Ross. I am Chandler. (As I type this up 20 years later, I am now Joey!)

In this real-life Friends, our female counterparts have yet to be cast because Manhattan Mormon girls don't get mixed up with us Jersey boys.

I can't believe we live here in this new luxury apartment! Built-in air conditioning. In-unit washer and dryer. Chilled water. Hot water. Workout room. Indoor pool. Outdoor pool. Hot tubs. Cable TV.

Cereal.

Serial silence.

We don't talk a lot. But tonight after the bus ride back from church, we talk. We talk about Terry's replacement.

Terry and I take the Statue of Liberty Ferry to Ellis Island yesterday.

I'll miss Terry.
